Julia Kandalepa is a visual artist studying Economics and Visual Art at Brown University, while also expanding my creative practice through courses at RISD. My work serves as a narrative—a journey expressed through symbols and imagery drawn from nature and personal introspection. Through my practice, I explore the intersection of identity and memory, reflecting on the ways in which our experiences shape and redefine our sense of self.
Working across a variety of media—including painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, and large-scale installations—I seek to create immersive experiences that evoke emotion and invite viewers into my world. Each piece is a visual diary, weaving together organic elements, abstract forms, and personal symbolism to convey themes of transformation, nostalgia, and self-discovery.
By blending traditional and experimental techniques, I aim to push the boundaries of storytelling in visual art, offering a space where personal and collective memories can coexist. My time at Brown and RISD has allowed me to expand my creative practice, fostering an interdisciplinary approach that continues to evolve with each new project.
